Natural gas

The gas purchasing group of CSUC, currently integrated by 24 academic and research institutions of Catalonia, plus the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, is a collaborative work carried out thanks to the valuable contributions of technical experts on this issue and of contract managers of the participating institutions. Energy experts give advice to the group, which uses custom-made management and auction tools specially developed for it.

In operation since 2014, the group continues the work initiated by the UAB Purchasing Group.

How it works?

The group has opened the bidding to all traders, indifferently accepting offers both at fixed price or indexed at Brent and exchange rates. Hiring is done through a framework agreement and centralized derivatives that make the selection of an auction date easy. This gives more flexibility to the purchasing group, as it can better adapt to market opportunities.

The group pursues the maximum economic benefit, but it also emphasizes the management of the performance contract to facilitate its daily follow-up to those in charge of energy issues at university.
