Access to more than 53,000 electronic resources

The Digital Library of Catalonia (BDC) is the platform for access to multidisciplinary information products of general interest to students, teachers and researchers in Catalonia. The BDC gives access to about 29,000 electronic journals, about 24,000 electronic books and 26 databases. All information is searchable through the catalogs of the member libraries and the CSUC's discovery tool.

Thanks to the joint contracting of electronic resources, libraries minimize individual subscription costs, unify information needs and perform centralized management.

Access to these more than 53,000 electronic resources is restricted to users of institutions participating in the BDC, which can be accessed from any authorized point in the network through IP address control.

In addition to contracted and restricted access resources, the BDC also includes repositories and databases with its own open access content for everyone. Consult them at:

Transformative agreements of the BDC

Following the guidelines of the Horizon 2020 Open Access mandate of the European Commission, the CRUE commission, of which the CSUC is a member, and CSIC, have negotiated new conditions for the existing agreements with several publishers of reference.

As is being done in different European countries, it is intended to transform the current subscription contracts into agreements in which articles that have a main author of one of the participating institutions are open access.
