Funding: 2023 María de Guzmán call for grants to promote scientific research excellence by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT).
Amount Funded: Two projects. One for €85,000 for the technological renewal of the Portal de la Recerca de Catalunya (PRC), and another for €60,621.40 to increase the quantity and quality of datasets published in a FAIR manner.
Facilitating Organization: Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.
The project's objective is to carry out a technological update of the Portal de la Recerca de Catalunya (PRC) to continue growing with efficient performance, increase interoperability with other systems, and facilitate the integration of new functionalities under development, such as search by knowledge area or an expertise map.
For this update, the María de Guzmán grant has awarded €85,000 for the temporary hiring of an IT profile person for 16 months.
The project's objective is to increase the quantity and quality of datasets published in a FAIR manner (findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable) by the more than 40 research centers that are part of the CERCA Institution, which group around 10,000 researchers.
Under this objective, the project aims to train different research groups on following FAIR principles in datasets, increase the use of datasets published in the Research Data Repository (RDR), promote the use of standards and controlled vocabularies in the RDR to facilitate repository interoperability, support the center's support staff to develop proper scientífic information management, etc. All with the aim of improving technological capacity, quality, and interoperability of a digital infrastructure like the RDR, dedicated to the dissemination, storage, preservation, and management of research results, essential for open science.
To achieve this, the María de Guzmán grant has awarded €60,621.40 for the hiring of a person with a mixed data documentalist profile for 22 months, who, under the coordination of the existing service, will carry out tasks of dissemination, training, and curation of FAIR data.
Both projects are developed with the support and collaboration of:
