PerfSONAR Performance Measurement Platform (PMP)

A PerfSONAR Performance Measurement Platform (PMP) probe is available to measure network performance.

PMP probes are small, low-cost nodes with preinstalled perfSONAR software that are installed on institutions that collaborate with GÉANT, such as CSUC through the Anella Científica. PMP probes also contain core components which include a Measurement Archive and a Dashboard.

The Small Nodes perform regular measurements towards some fixed measurement points (MP, Measurement Platform) located at the centre of the GÉANT network and handled by the GÉANT network operations centre (NOC).

The core components that manage the platform elements, collect, store and represent performance data and are operated and maintained by the PMP operational team in the GÉANT project.

The CSUC PMP probe measures through a 1 Gbps network interface. The results of the measurements can be found in the MADDASH (Monitoring And Debugging DASHboard) which contains the measurement grid of all the available PMP probes with the five main MPs.
