Routing

Routing allows the institutions’ traffic to be redirected in the following scenarios:

  • When the primary Internet access circuit of an institution fails because of a provider problem.
  • When one of the backbone points of presence of the Anella Científica fails.
  • When maintenance is scheduled by either the provider or CSUC.

This routing can be: 

  • Static: upon failure, CSUC will need to intervene to route traffic. 
  • BGP Dynamic Routing: upon failure, traffic is automatically re-routed. 

Dynamic routing allows the traffic of the institutions to be automatically redirected. CSUC recommends the use of dynamic routing because it helps increase the availability of the institution's network.
