Supercomputing

Supercomputing Service

Committed to innovation, we provide high-performance computing resources to the academic and research community, technical support at all times, and training to get the most out of resources.

What are the benefits of doing supercomputing at CSUC?

Supercomputing is a fundamental tool for science and engineering, because it uses computing power to solve complex problems, analyzes massive data, and does simulations. High-performance computing is the order of the day, and at CSUC we want you to enjoy it too. That is why:

  • We advise you in defining the resources needed for your calculations and in choosing and using the software that best suits your needs.
  • We offer you training so that you can get the most out of our computing resources. We provide you with documents to make everything easier.
  • We help you solve doubts and day-to-day problems related to our service.
  • We offer you a wide range of applications from different areas of knowledge. If the application you need for the development of your project is not in the list of those we offer, we help you install it or we install it directly for you. You choose!

Leading infrastructures at the service of R+D+I

We coordinate with other facilities in Spain to promote the development of cutting-edge research projects that have quality and are competitive, encouraging the transfer of knowledge and technology and encouraging innovation.

20% of the computing capacity of the CSUC is put at the service of the Spanish Supercomputing Network (RES) to contribute to the scientific and technological development of the country. The RES is an infrastructure that interconnects 16 supercomputers distributed in the Spanish geography, among them, the CSUC ones. The goal of this e-Science network is to provide high-performance computing resources to the scientific community, but also technical support services, training, and activities to improve resource efficiency.

The RES is a Singular Scientific and Technical Infrastructure (ICTS). In the whole of Spain there are 29 ICTS that bring together 62 infrastructures, including those of the CSUC, all of them with the following characteristics:

  • They are publicly owned infrastructures.
  • They are unique in the sense that they are unique in their field of work.
  • They are open, in whole or in part, to the competitive access of users from the entire scientific, technological and industrial community, both in the public and private sectors.

HPC Portal, the tool that unites us

HPC Portal is the space we use to communicate with our users, promoting the proper management and optimization of computing resources. Through this tool, the user can inform us of any incident that affects the development of his project, as well as request new software, ask for support in some actions or ask us questions about both the machines and theprograms we have.

The CSUC team has the scientific and technical knowledge to resolve incidents as soon as possible.

How to access HPC Portal?

  • Enter the support section at hpc.csuc.cat.
  • Log in with your username and password or register if you haven't already.
  • Select the type of query that you want to send and complete the form with the data that we require.
  • Once the query is created, remember that you can follow it from the "My Queries" tab at the top right.
